I know its been very silent on my end for the last month. I have started a new position at work and I am not kidding when I say that I have no time to do none work related things. It is very frustrating but I am finally settling in and I am finding more time and energy to get back into doing the things that I find relaxing.
I recently came across a company called WeWork that offers people the ability to rent out work space. The timing could not have been more perfect because for me my "work area" is key to getting my creative on. I see so many cute offices that I have always been a little shy to show case where I work, but after seeing the space offered by WeWork I thought what the heck just show it off. WeWork has shared office spaces throughout the world, even in London! You can rent an office or just get a membership to use the common area. It is a great set up for those that may work on the road or just need someplace to get out of the house to finish work. If you are looking for a place to escape to check it out.
I don't know how other people work but I cannot sit in a quiet room. I need distractions to actually get things done. Even in grad school I would sit with a group of friends in one of our cafeteria/common areas with my headphones in and just bust out paper after paper. Put me in a quiet library and I get nothing done :)
I don't actually have my dream work space right now due to the fact that we live in a small one bedroom apartment. We have down sized from a two bedroom so the majority of our boxes are still packed and just hanging out in the open. Right now my work space is the living room. I plop myself down in front of the TV put on an episode of The Middle or Friends and just work work work. Its comfy and I have the distraction of the TV when I need it.
I have a pretty nice set up right now. The table behind the coach is great for doing projects at and if I need the kitchen for anything it is right next to the living room. The track lighting in our apartment is perfect for a DIY photo booth. I didn't even have to move the light I just grabbed a white sheet hung it on the wall and bam.
I have a feeling that even if I had my own office with a desk I would still end up migrating to the living room to plop myself on the the couch to work. I guess I will just have to remember to include a couch and TV in my dream office rather than a desk.
There you have it a little peek into the way I work and my work space. Oh and if you are wondering what was on the TV at the time of this photo it was Shawn of the Dead. Yes I am a fan of zombie movies :)
